Rooney sacked by Birmingham
After 2 wins in 15 since he was appointed in October. They were 6th when they sacked John Eustace for this "big name" manager and are now 20th.

Good work, Wayne!

I see Saint Gary Linker has demanded the BBC take down a tweet he feels is offensive, LOL

On X a picture of Rooney with a flat cap and a caption on his sacking reading "By order of the Peaky Blinders"

the sad thing is though, the BBC took it down!!!

Trying to think of top class players who became top class managers and it certainly seems average to good players make better managers. Guardiola was a good player but not exactly world class from what I can remember and Fergie and Wenger had average playing careers.

Rooney has failed as a manager, as has Lampard and Gerard - the golden generation.

Its quite interesting that Americans owners for the most part get it wrong over here in Soccer. I get the impression that 'front office' in their sports is just as important as the playing staff.

What a fucking disaster. 3.5 year contract at around £5.5m if he had stayed for duration. Apparently Rooney has agreed a 50% pay off. But its still cost them £2.75m for 15 games. No wonder the Brum fans are pissed off at the the clubs ownership.

Looks like Eustace may be going back.

Potter is from Brum and played for them, maybe a bit below his remit, who knows.....

Lampard should go to Colchester, less travelling and upheaval before getting sacked again before the end of the season.

Lampard mentioned as a potential successor. That would be amazing if so.

The whole appointment was ludicrous - I'd love to know what the reasons given were for sacking Eustace.

Re: Rooney sacked by Birmingham
It is baffling how he and others have stumbled into management on the back of their reputations as players and then continued getting jobs despite a catalogue of failures.
Gerrard had sort of done OK at Rangers but was a disaster at Villa and his Saudi club are only seventh in that league.

That's him finished along with fatty and Gerrard. At least they had the balls to admit their vanity project fucked up and pulled the trigger. I actually quiet like Rooney, not an elitist prick like some others, but he should retire now and enjoy all his millions.

John Eustace not Peter

Had them 6th when sacked by the American buffoons to appoint Grizzly Rooney on I read 3 times the salary.
Hasn't taken a new job and if asked to come back (THE SENSIBLE DECISION) he should insist on Rooney's salary

Shouldn't have sacked the previous manager. Rooney was a pr exercise because they wanted more world wide coverage! Wankers

Re: Rooney sacked by Birmingham
Could be that the former manager Peter Eustace was guilty of playing a defensive game, winning sold out games by scoring on the break and was not weakening the team by playing second string and youth players who are not good enough. He could even have been threatening to regularly get Birmingham into Europe and winning a cup. No wonder they replaced him with a young progressive manager like Rooney.
